Pediatric Chiropractic in Fargo
When your child mentions a sore neck after school or sits out a favorite game because their back hurts, you want to know why. At Bjorlie Chiropractic, Dr. Kevin Bjorlie, DC, listens to your observations and gives your child time to share what they’re feeling, too.
The practice welcomes children from newborns through age 18. Assessments and recommendations reflect each child’s age, development, activity level, and comfort.
An Assessment That Considers Their Age
We don’t treat children like small adults. Before recommending care, your chiropractor reviews your child’s health history and asks about their symptoms, daily activities, and any injuries. An examination helps determine whether chiropractic care is suitable or another healthcare provider should assess the concern.
For younger children, parents’ observations can be especially helpful. Older children may describe which movements hurt or when discomfort interrupts school, sports, or sleep.
Concerns Parents Bring to Us
Families may seek an assessment for:
- Neck and back discomfort
- Postural concerns, including discomfort associated with device use
- Sports injuries and activity-related aches
- Headaches
- Concerns about spinal curvature or scoliosis
These concerns may have different causes. An assessment doesn’t automatically mean an adjustment is needed, and recommendations depend on the findings. Questions about developmental milestones or persistent infant distress should also be discussed with your child’s pediatric healthcare provider.
Techniques Adapted to Your Child
If care is recommended, we adapt techniques and force to your child’s age, size, and clinical needs. For infants and younger children, this may involve light, sustained contact. To describe the pressure, your chiropractor compares it to checking whether an avocado is ripe.
We may also consider instrument-assisted options, including Activator Methods® and Impulse IQ®. These handheld instruments deliver controlled impulses to selected areas. Your chiropractor will explain the proposed technique and discuss your questions before proceeding.
Time to Listen and Build Trust
Building trust matters. We listen to parents and children, explain what’s happening, and monitor comfort throughout the visit. Let us know if your child feels uncertain or needs another explanation. The goal is to make room for questions without feeling rushed.
